Paul Preiss

During his tenure at Iasa, Paul has taken it from a single user group with 50 members to an influential global organization with over 80,000 in its professional network. He orchestrated the development of dozens of chapters and leaders in over 50 countries. He brought Iasa to the forefront of the architect profession and employs staff around the world in the growth of the organization. Scott Whitmire is the research manager and systems architect for the Neurosurgery Research Lab at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He has over 30 years of business change and software development experience, including serving as lead architect on a number of major applications. His interest in software engineering and architecture began over 20 years ago as he became frustrated with the state of the systems on which he worked as well as those he had built. He has built or designed applications and entire lines of business for several industries, including aerospace, health care, manufacturing, professional practice management, financial services, wholesale, retail, and telecommunications.

Mr. Whitmire is the Chair of the Iasa Board of Education and serves on the Iasa Board of Directors. He is one of the original members of the Curriculum Committee, is one of the initial authors of Iasa’s definitions of software and infrastructure architecture, led the committee’s efforts to define business architecture as an architecture specialty, and is the primary author of Iasa’s Business Architecture curriculum.

Dr. Ariffin Marzuki bin Mokhtar is a National Specialist Registered (NSR) Anesthesiologist that graduated from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) (2002), and is currently practicing as a Consultant Anesthesiologist at the National Heart Institute (Institut Jantung Negara-IJN), Malaysia. He is a Certified Professional in Health Information Management and Systems (CPHIMS), a Certified IT Architect- Associate (CITA-A) and is Open Group Architecture Framework 9.1 Certified.

Apart from clinical practice in Cardiac Anesthesia and Critical Care, his current job scope as the Director of Health Informatics (DHI) for IJN includes implementation of IJNs Enterprise Architecture initiatives, advising the IJNs BOD and Management on matters pertaining to Information system Governance, best practices and supporting the IJNs accreditations initiatives that includes the JCI, MSQH, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 27001 and HACCP. He has worked an Advisor to CIO at South Africa’s Large transport Enterprise. He has experience in working in Telecommunication, Hospitality & Hi tech industries in a strategic role for driving IT organization.

He is an expert in providing corporate level practical Enterprise Architecture Orientation to large number of senior architects at major System Integrators, Banks and Automotive organizations in India, United States and APAC, adopting IASA Methodology and leading EA frameworks. I also have experienced in the academy, participating in several research projects and lecturing in subjects like operating systems, distributed systems, and performance evaluation .

I received a degree in Computer Sciences from the Central University of Venezuela in 1993, a Master degree in Information Technology Management from the ITESM, Mexico in 2004, and an a PhD in Computer Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 2011. In my PhD dissertation I proposed the design, implemented and evaluated a middleware for self-adaptive highly scalable web services.

Darryl is a 25+ year IT veteran, having provided Solution Architecture and Enterprise Architecture services to companies across numerous industries on both the east and west coast of Australia, including the establishment of EA capabilities. He is a member of an industry advisory group that was formed to advise the Australian Computer Society (ACS) on the scope, skills and body of knowledge of an Enterprise Architect to support a specialist certification in EA.

Darryl has presented on the definition of EA Skills using the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA).
